SPAM Alert
« on: February 07, 2010, 07:41:30 PM »
Ok, the spammers are getting more creative... not only are they posting more, but they're creating accounts and using them to send private messages to members. A number of people recently got PMs from the account "ForumTeam" - these were BOGUS.

The ONLY names you will get any sort of forum related private messages from should be mine or possibly another Milita Team member...

if there is EVER any question, email me panther-at-mnmilitia.com and I can verify things for you.

I had gotten this as well.  The problem with this one is it is not just spam.  I did not go to the tool download or any thing like this.  With my schooling in systems security I would bet that the down load (that says it will help you remove the virus)  Is actualy the virus its self.  That probably has nothing to do with spam... More so pasword theft...Bank acount information theft and such.

A lot of these downloads are hitting computers because users trust them thinking that it will help them...Not understanding that guess what bad guys are not woried about being charged with false advertising...there are so many of them and probably not even from this country that they get away with it.  if it is a tool, antivirus thing..even if it says free...bla bla bla... Unless you go to them or get it from a store it is a good chance it is a virus its self.

Irony: The use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.
OK, the bots are now speaking to us?
It's just a game, play it for all it's worth.

yea... I often wonder why these spammers still do this, with all the education out there on how you shouldn't click these links, but then I realize they still do it cause people are still stupid, and click the links.
