Got a Garmin Nuvi and have no complaints at all.  This is my second one.  If size matters, the price goes up as the size does.

I have a Tom Tom that works great, but my phone nav system is almost as good as these car units. I would say the Garmin is the most popular so would go with one of those if I were you.

Third vote for Nuvi.  You can find them refurbished for around $150 on ebay.

I use a cheapy nextar for work, it's about 4 years out of date but gets me around most the time, I've seen newer ones at bestbuy for 125$ i think. Basic no frills kinda job. definitely not comparable to nuvi or garmin, from what I've seen tech support is non existent and map updates are hard to find. But they do use the same map info as the garmins i believe..

For that price you can get a Garmin wide screen at Best Buy.

speaking of GPS, Darrin is updating the Splat-Tag map to include coordinates of bases and such. I've still thought bout getting one of the radios with the GPS built in....

Looking at pricing, to get one with a radio that would get out of the valleys, $500ish.
